What's New

 What's New?

For this week, I will share what I did on my instructional design journey for this class. At the beginning of the week, I had some challenges downloading Adobe Captivate and spent a couple of days troubleshooting and fixing some computer issues to download the software. After a couple of days, I got my computer up-to-date so I could record videos and download new software. Troubleshooting was very interesting, and I learned a lot. It can be frustrating when technology malfunctions, but diagnosing and solving the issue is quite exciting. I’m glad that I was able to fix my computer and download the information that I need for this class and work.

I have also been working on LinkedIn and connecting with Instructional Designers along with reading information about networking and learning about different instructional design principles. I’m also taking a course online for Adobe Captivate to make sure that I understand it better and can incorporate Adobe Captivate effectively in this semester’s final project.

Last week, in my journal, I mentioned being able to include audio in presentations rather than just graphics and text. This week, the chapters focused on the importance of the modality principle and incorporating audio on screen. People often get overloaded when they are focusing on the same thing constantly. So creating any courses or presentations with graphics, audio recordings, and videos is very beneficial.

A psychological benefit that the modality principle has is that the information the learner takes in is split between the cognitive channels, auditory and visual, instead of being concentrated in just one channel. The goal of Instructional Designers is to engage readers and applying the modality principle to their creations will be beneficial to the learner and profitable for the designer

I look forward to including more visual and audio narrations in my project. I also look forward to making it more personal and using the appropriate verbiage that will encourage participants to stay engaged.
